Goal
By the end of this course, participants will understand the core elements of airline operations, including types of carriers, business models, network planning, performance metrics, and customer-facing services. The course also introduces the fundamentals of air cargo operations and outlines regulatory considerations for handling and transporting dangerous goods by air.
Course Description
This self-paced course is part of the Fundamentals of International Aviation Online Training Programme. It provides a foundational overview of how commercial air carriers operate and are managed within the global aviation system. Referencing ICAO standards and international practices, the course explores the structure of airline businesses, key operational strategies, and the dynamics shaping both passenger and cargo services.

- Describe the impacts of supply and demand on airline businesses.
- Recite the key performance indicators used to track airline passengers, profits, and costs.

Primary Target Population
Primary target audience:

Certificate
The participant must achieve a score of 80% to pass the final exam. Note that participants are allowed a maximum of three (3) attempts only. Upon successfully completing the exam, the participant will receive ICAO’s e-Certificate.
