Member-ICAO Course
Goal
The course will provide licensed pilots with the necessary skills to anticipate safe flying within mountainous areas, including valleys, strips, and high altitudes, in accordance with ICAO Annexes 2,3,4,6 Part II,14, and 15.
Learning Objectives
After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Prepare Navigation and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Flight Plan;
- Perform runway analysis for safe short takeoffs/landings;
- Characterize safe in valley and ridge crossing maneuvers including valley turns;
- Manage high altitude requirement use of oxygen and the risk of hypoxia;
- Manage emergency situations in mountainous areas.

- Module 3: Aircraft Performance in Mountainous areas
Primary Target Population
- Licensed Commercial Pilots flying in mountainous areas.
Secondary Target Population
- Licensed Private Pilots flying in mountainous areas;
- Military Pilots flying in mountainous areas.
Entry Requirements
For primary target population:
- Valid Commercial Pilot License.
For secondary target population:
- Valid PPL License or Military Pilot ratings.
