Fundamentals and Planning of Air Navigation Services Specialist
Goal
The course provides trainees with the knowledge required to manage and plan air navigation services in accordance with ANS SARPs, associated guidance material and making use of best practices applied worldwide.
Learning Objectives
To identify the ANS requirements demanded by air transport users
To familiarize with the interaction between the different ANS, including the fundamentals for their provision, as well as the technical and human means involved
To understand the air navigation institutional framework, including different functions, roles and responsibilities
To familiarize with the legal framework applicable to the provision of air navigation services (consisting in international, regional and national legislation), its purposes and background
To describe the technical and institutional measures to improve ANS and cope with existing problems, as agreed through global/regional strategies and programmes (with special emphasis on international initiatives such as GANP and regional initiatives such as Single European Sky).
To familiarize with key concepts for the planning of air navigation services and their interaction with other management processes
To familiarize with the concept of integrated management systems and their advantages and difficulties
To understand the concept of performance based approaches applied to Air Navigation Services
To acquire and improve skills related to the interpersonal relationships as required in ANS management professional practice
Primary Target Population
Primarily aimed at ANS professionals such as ANSP management staff, engineers, air traffic controllers, economists, lawyers and other employees of an air navigation service provider
