Radiotelephony Communication in case of Standard, Abnormal and Emergency Situations
Goal
This course will provide air traffic controllers with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to use standardized phraseology for the prescribed situations and deal with the linguistic challenges presented by quickly changing and dynamic abnormal situations and emergencies that require extended use of plain language in accordance with “Radiotelephony phraseology rules for flights and ATS” (RK №454)
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- apply document requirements prescribed for standardized phraseology
- use plain language when communicating about level bust and airmiss
- use plain language when informing about serviceability and failure of radio navigation aids
- use plain language when communicating about medical problems and unruly passengers on board
- use plain language when communicating about aircraft systems failure and other emergency situations on board an aircraft that pose risk to flight safety
- use plain language when communicating about unlawful interference and bomb threat on board

Primary Target Population
Air traffic controllers who hold or have held ATC licence
Entry Requirements
Participants must hold or have held an ATC licence or they are/were pilots, FIS operators, radio operators who are required to use radiotelephony phraseology in English
Minimum language requirements: pre-intermediate in accordance with CEFR
