Goal

This course aims to increase understanding of aviation’s environmental footprint and the mitigation measures available to improve long-term sustainability. Learners will: 

  • Identify key environmental impacts associated with aviation operations. 
  • Understand strategies that mitigate pollution and protect ecosystems. 
  • Recognize the importance of climate resilience and environmental monitoring systems.

• Describe the issues and strategies related to air pollution and emissions management. 

• Describe how aviation facilities and activities impact biodiversity.

Primary Target Population

All aviation professionals seeking to develop a baseline understanding of sustainability as it applies to civil aviation, including airline, airport, and regulatory personnel, as well as professionals transitioning into aviation from other industries. No previous background or experience in sustainability is required.


Secondary Target Population

Students, educators, consultants, and support-service providers who wish to understand sustainability principles within aviation operations.
