Goal

This course aims to highlight the environmental and social sustainability contributions of the general-aviation community. Learners will: 

  • Understand the role of flight-training organizations in promoting workforce sustainability. 
  • Recognize the business-aviation strategies supporting net-zero 2050. 
  • Identify examples where general-aviation operations advance social or environmental goals. 
  • Acknowledge inequities in aviation access and inclusion. 

Learning Objectives

• Describe the major social sustainability factors advanced by in-flight training programs. 

• Outline the key strategies in the business aviation plan for net-zero emissions by 2050. 

• List strategies for, and examples of, the use of general aviation to advance sustainability. 

• Outline some of the social inequities in access to aviation. 


Primary Target Population

All aviation professionals seeking to develop a baseline understanding of sustainability as it applies to civil aviation, including airline, airport, and regulatory personnel, as well as professionals transitioning into aviation from other industries. No previous background or experience in sustainability is required.


Secondary Target Population

Students, educators, consultants, and support-service providers who wish to understand sustainability principles within aviation operations.
