Goal

This course introduces participants to the concept of governance as a cornerstone of sustainability in aviation. Learners will: 

  • Understand why effective governance is essential to achieving sustainability outcomes. 
  • Recognize how sustainability is integrated into ICAO’s policies, standards, and strategic planning. 
  • Identify the primary roles ICAO and other aviation organizations play in advancing sustainability worldwide.

• Outline the major sustainability-related activities carried out by ICAO. 

• Summarize the sustainability governance roles played by other aviation organizations. 


Primary Target Population

All aviation professionals seeking to develop a baseline understanding of sustainability as it applies to civil aviation, including airline, airport, and regulatory personnel, as well as professionals transitioning into aviation from other industries. No previous background or experience in sustainability is required.


Secondary Target Population

Students, educators, consultants, and support-service providers who wish to understand sustainability principles within aviation operations.
