Prevention of Runway Incursions
Goal
This course provides Aerodrome Air Traffic Controllers, with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to prevent runway incursions by handling a safe and efficient aircraft movement in compliance with the Aerodrome Control Unit Operational instructions of the Manual of Air Traffic Services.
Learning Objectives
After successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to;
1. Monitor aircraft movements on the runway ensuring safe and efficient runway operations.
2. Maintain continuous runway operations and actively monitor communication channels to support safe and coordinated airfield activity.
3. Prevent runway incursions by applying correct procedures and following established air traffic control protocols.
4. Handle post incursion procedures by coordinating with relevant personnel and completing all required regulatory documentation.

Primary Target Population
Air Traffic Controllers who are either deployed or are to be deployed at Aerodrome Control Units.
Secondary Target Population
Senior Managers and Watch Managers who are deployed at Aerodrome Control Units.
Entry Requirements
Should possess a valid ATC License and Aerodrome Control Ratings issued by a regulatory authority
OR
Should have completed at least the cognitive component of a standard Air Traffic Control Course and received a briefing on ATC simulator operations.
