Introduction to safety regulation of Non-Military Drones
Goal
This STP will Provide knowledge, skills and attitude to CAA personnel, Industry and Managers to identify the purpose and applicability of all EU regulations related to industry standards concerning civil unmanned aircraft, based on multiple and sometimes overlapping and not totally harmonized regulations which are applicable to non-military operations of unmanned aircraft.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
a) Identify ICAO provisions, EU common rules and role of related industry in the certification processes of UAS.
b) Define the applicable regulatory framework for typical operations.
c) Collect most relevant documents produced by Standard Development Organisations (SDOs) suitable as Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) with the legally binding rules in the UAS domain.

- Module 1: UAS Regulatory Framework
- Module 2: Legal obligations of UAS operators
- Module 3: Reviewing Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
Primary Target Population
Middle management, policy advisors and inspectors of CAAs involved in policy development, rulemaking, safety management and safety oversight of unmanned aviation.
Entry Requirements
Potential participants to take this course must have:
a) Good command of English language.
b) High school diploma or University graduation.
c) Basic knowledge of civil aviation.
d) Previous experience on drone’s desirable, but not necessary.
