Air Traffic Management (ATM) Incident Investigation Techniques
Goal
This course will provide trainees with the competencies to participate in formal ATM incident investigations in an ATC workplace in accordance with ICAO Annex 13, ICAO Document 9426 and ICAO Document 9756.
Learning Objectives
After successful completion of this course, participants will be able to investigate ATM incidents:
- Collect and preserve evidence;
- Conduct interviews;
- Analyze evidence;
- Appraise results from reconstruction;
- Provide causal factors and safety recommendations.

Primary Target Population
Personnel involved in ATS occurrence investigations from accident investigation agencies and civil aviation administrations or personnel.
Secondary Target Population
State civil aviation inspectorate personnel, airport authorities/operators, air navigation providers organisations, ATS Systems engineers, military and air force ATS Operations team members, air crew personnel, governmental agencies, law enforcement, Civil Aviation Administration regulators; academics with an interest in incident investigation.
Entry Requirements
1. Proficiency in the English language.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a licensed ATS provider or equivalent appropriate aviation industry qualification (e.g. avionics engineer, air crew personnel etc.).
3. Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
