Goal

The course provides trainees with the knowledge required to manage the technical and operational component of air navigation services in accordance with ANS SARPs, associated guidance material and making use of best practices applied worldwide.


Learning Objectives

  • Familiarize with ICAO’s Performance Based Navigation (PBN) concept
  • Familiarize with airspace structures and the basics of the design of instrument flight procedures (IFPD)
  • Familiarize with the concept of capacity for airport, factors behind and ways for its calculation, including limiting capacity and ATFCM measures
  • Describe the A CDM concept and how its integration helps the achievement of desired capacity levels
  • Familiarize with the integration of drones into the airspace and the concept of U space
  • Familiarize with Air Navigation Technical Services from the perspective of technology, architecture and functionalities for communication systems (mobile and ground based), surveillance systems and ATM systems
  • Provide a general awareness about the ICAO AIS to AIM transition roadmap.
  • Reinforce the importance of the Quality of the Aeronautical Data and Aeronautical Information and Spanish AISP Quality Management System Procedures on support of Annex 15
  • Familiarize safety in Air Navigation Services from the perspective of planning, regulation and provision
  • Describe how to promote a safety culture within air navigation service provider
  • Describe methods for safety assessment of functional changes
  • Familiarize with occurrence reporting and safety investigation techniques in accordance with international best practices
  • Describe the influence of human performance in the provision of air navigation services as well as in organizational and procedural issues
  • Describe the psychological and physiological limitations of the individual and the impact of these limitations on the commission of errors
  • Describe how to provide an overview of Environmental issues from the perspective of Air Navigation Services
  • Describe the effects of aviation on the environment, with special attention to noise, emissions and climate change
  • Describe how to address actions to reduce environmental affections from the perspective of a multi-stakeholder overview of the environmental impact of the aviation sector whilst securing its future sustainable development
  • Familiarize with security in Air Navigation Services from the perspective of planning, regulation and provision
  • Familiarize with Cybersecurity at national and international level, main regulatory frameworks, internal organization of an ANSP and an approach to general technical concepts and good practices.
