Goal

The Innovation in Aviation - Fundamentals online course is designed to enhance individual skills and stimulate further thinking within organizations about innovation and integrating advanced solutions to support the civil aviation system. 

Course Description

This self-paced online course is divided into three sections with a total of 11 concise topics, each designed to build progressively on your understanding of innovation in aviation. Starting with core innovation concepts, the course then explores key enablers and practical strategies to overcome common barriers. Each topic takes 10 minutes to complete, offering flexible, anytime learning. 


Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the value of innovation and the types of innovations in aviation.
  • Describe the innovation ecosystem, including in-sector, emerging, and out-of-sector stakeholders involved in innovation activities.
  • Comprehend the regulatory framework and the industry's needs and expectations towards regulation.
  • Identify regulatory challenges and understand how existing mechanisms and solutions could be applied to overcome them.
  • Compare common institutional challenges to innovation, that could be related but not limited to innovation culture, resources management or organizations mandates.
  • Identify adaptive organizational management strategies in support of an innovation environment.

Primary Target Population

Primary target audience: 

  • Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs): CAAs engaged in the development and implementation of aviation policies and regulations who are looking to foster and manage innovation within their operations.
  • Representatives from Regional Organizations in Aviation: Individuals involved in innovation initiatives at the regional level, looking to enhance their understanding of innovation management and its application in air transportation.
  • Aviation Industry Stakeholders: Professionals from aviation sectors, such as airlines, airports, and maintenance organizations, who are implementing or planning to implement innovative concepts to enhance their operations and services.

Secondary target audience:

Certificate

The Final Exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. You require a grade of 80% to pass, and you are allowed 3 attempts. Upon successful completion of the exam, you will receive ICAO’s e-Certificate.
