Goal

The course will provide licensed pilots with the necessary skills to anticipate safe flying within mountainous areas, including valleys, strips, and high altitudes, in accordance with ICAO Annex 6 Part II. 


Learning Objectives

After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Plan the preparation of the airplane for the departure from an airstrip or a runway in a mountainous area
  • Plan all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all phases of flight
  • Check aircraft limitations for all phases of a flight in a mountainous area

Structure

  • Module 0: Introduction
  • Module 1: Flight Preparation
  • Module 2: SOPs for all phases of flight
  • Module 3: Aircraft Performance in Mountainous areas

Primary Target Population

  1. Licensed Commercial Pilots flying in mountainous areas.


Secondary Target Population

  1. Licensed Private Pilots flying in mountainous areas;
  2. Military Pilots flying in mountainous areas.


Entry Requirements

For primary target population:

  1. Valid Commercial Pilot License.

For secondary target population:

  1. Valid PPL License or Military Pilot ratings.
